Statistics and Quantum Chaos

We use multi-time correlation functions of quantum systems to construct random variables with statistical properties that reflect the degree of complexity of the underlying quantum dynamics. PACS numbers: 05.45.+b, 02.50.-r

Chaos, Fractals and Statistics

We review a wide variety of applications in different branches of sciences arising from the study of dynamical systems. The emergence of chaos and fractals from iterations of simple difference equations is discussed. Notions of phase gpace, contractive mapping, attractor, invariant density and the relevance of ergodic theory for studying dynamical systems are reviewed. Various concepts of dimen...

Semi-Poisson statistics in quantum chaos.

We investigate the quantum properties of a nonrandom Hamiltonian with a steplike singularity. It is shown that the eigenfunctions are multifractals and, in a certain range of parameters, the level statistics is described exactly by semi-Poisson statistics (SP) typical of pseudointegrable systems. It is also shown that our results are universal, namely, they depend exclusively on the presence of...

Level velocity statistics of hyperbolic chaos

A generalized standard map is quantized as a model of quantum chaos. We show that, only in hyperbolic chaotic regime, second moment of quantum level velocity is ∼ 1/h̄ as predicted by the random matrix theory. As a semiclassical implication, all higher order classical time correlations are insignificant in this regime.
